Welcome to our blog!

We thought we’d start at the beginning.

Just what is Incredible Creatures?

Incredible Creatures is an interactive adventure Betty and I have created to help kids discover their God-given strengths. It is a simplified personality profile based on the adult behavioral profile, Leading From Your Strengths© created by John Trent and Rodney Cox of Ministry Insights International.

Why did we create it?

The adult LFYS profile changed my life. It explained my behaviour style and this increased my self-confidence. Before Leading From Your Strengths, there was always a voice in my head saying “there’s something wrong with me.” Understanding my unique personality and the value I bring to the world around me has been transformational.

Behavioural strengths are identified in a fun and memorable way and each animal represents a particular strength.

Solving Problems (Lion Strength)

Influencing Others (Otter Strength)

Responding to the Pace of the Environment (Golden Retriever Strength)

Following Rules and Procedures (Beaver Strength)

For example, my profile identifies me as an aggressive (as opposed to reflective) problem solver and a high influencer of others. I am people focused and fast paced.

We recognized this information as invaluable. Being both parents and educators, we asked ourselves, ‘How could children learn this about themselves?’ We visualized how this knowledge would impact their lives by giving them self-confidence if they knew their God-given strengths. We felt it would also help combat the negative impact of bullying if children understood their uniqueness.

So what did we do?

We wrote a story about four animals going on a field trip and getting lost in the mountains. During their adventure, the animals behave according to their natural strength. The children choose the behavior most like their own by collecting animal cards at different times throughout the story. This data becomes the basis for their Discovery Report – complete with cartoon characters explaining each animal’s strength.

We have created the Incredible Creatures Adventure kit that can be used in schools, camps, churches and home schools. We will soon have a Family Edition. By visiting our website you can watch a video description plus view the kit and accompanying products. http://incredibleliving.ca

While there, please sign up for our mailing list and receive a free Communication Tips booklet. You’ll find tips about how to speak to other personality styles so they will actually listen!
